Spring Clean Your Fitness Routine

Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start. With that New Year motivation fading for many, now's the ideal moment to give your fitness routine a little reboot. Here are five simple ways to "spring clean" your healthy habits and set yourself up for a successful spring and summer.

 1. Assess your goals

If you set your goals back in January (or even earlier) and are still doing the same workouts, it might be time to check in on your progress and adjust your routine.

Maybe you were focused on losing weight, but now you're ready to shift gears and build muscle. Or perhaps you've set a new goal, like getting your first pull-up. Whatever it is, the key to hitting your goals is knowing exactly what they are---and making sure your workouts are aligned to help you achieve them.

 2. Check Your Nutrition

Nutrition plays a huge role in hitting your fitness goals, especially if you're focusing on body recomposition.

Consider tracking your calories for a few weeks to make sure you're on track, or if you're not into tracking, do a quick health check. Make sure you're getting enough protein, properly fueling your workouts, and eating plenty of fruits and veggies. This can help you break out of a nutrition slump.

Spring is also a great time to try out some new healthy recipes---get creative in the kitchen!

 3. Try Something New

If you're lacking motivation to hit your workouts, why not mix things up this spring?

Trying a new fitness class, switching up your exercises, or even picking up a new active hobby can make working out feel exciting again and keep you engaged.

 4. Sign Up for a Challenge

If you're someone who thrives on deadlines, why not sign up for a fitness challenge? Knowing you have to hit a goal by a certain date is a great way to stay accountable---and it's an awesome opportunity to raise money for a good cause!

If you've always wanted to try running but haven't gotten around to it, signing up for a 5k could be the perfect motivation. There are also tons of other challenges like sponsored walks, obstacle courses, and bike rides---whatever you're into, there's an event for you.

 5. Commit to 30 Minutes a Day

As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, it's easy for plans to pile up and throw off your fitness routine.

But committing to just 30 minutes of activity each day can help you maintain healthy habits and stay fit during the warmer months. It's enough time to keep you on track without feeling like you're missing out on your social plans.
